Join us at Milkwood Farm for our annual Field Day on 1 April 2012. Come explore our fabulous small 'beyond organic' farm and education center, and sit down with us for a delicious lunch made with organic produce from our farm.
This year we're excited to have Craig Sponholtz as our special guest. As part of the field day Craig will be talking on applied watershed restoration and erosion control, as well as taking folks on watershed walks, where you will learn how to read the landscape.
Nick Ritar will be on hand to give an overview of the farm and take you on a farm tour, explaining Milkwood's many features including water harvesting, grazing, natural building, alternative energy, beekeeping and animal systems.
Stephen Couling will take you for a tour of our organic market garden, and Dan Harris Pascal will lead you through our forest garden systems...
In between all this walking, exploring and doing, join us for a beautiful organic lunch made from as much Milkwood Farm fare as we can squeeze in...
Places are limited to 60 people to ensure a fantastic day for everyone. For more info about Milkwood Farm check out our farm blog here.
Further details about the day, food preferences and what to bring will be forwarded to you after booking...
This field day is offered at cost, with your ticket fee covering our special guest speaker's fee and the catering. As a result, this is our best fair share rate and no further discounts are available for this event.
**Please note that the farm walks part of this day is NOT suitable for anyone with limited mobility, as there is a small amount of steep hill walking accessed by rough walking tracks.
However if you do have limited mobility, there is still plenty to see, do and participate in during the field day, you might just have to give some parts of the farm walks a miss.
Milkwood is a small organic family farm near Mudgee in Central Western NSW. A Permaculture Demonstration Farm currently under development, Milkwood features extensive permaculture earthworks and water-harvesting features, our amazing passive-solar cottage, food-forests in the making, seedball production and many other examples of sustainable and regenerative best-practice for farming and living.
Our courses are held in our family's woolshed with beautiful views of Campbells Creek Valley and our organic farm cooking is such that students often joke about moving in permanently.
Mudgee is an easy 4 hours by car or 40 minutes by air from Sydney, and is serviced by Countrylink Rail and Mudgee Airport. See our Getting to Milkwood page for a map and full details on getting here by plane, train or automobile.
