This course will give you a comprehensive overview of how to apply pro-active, sustainable design techniques to your immediate environment - whether you live in a small apartment, a quarter-acre block, or a rural property.

principles exerciseCovering organic food production, system design (and re-design) for comfort and lower energy consumption, and solutions in how to approach a sustainable and positive community existence within your neighborhood.

In a world out of balance, we are all looking for solutions that can lead to:
  • Effective ways of growing healthy, organic food in urban environments
  • Regenerative farming that can both feed a family, earn an income and build soil fertility
  • Retrofitting techniques for existing houses or property that results in lower energy costs and better health for its inhabitants
picking beetrootPermaculture principles, like any really good design principles, can be applied across any biosphere, any property, any landscape, any city. Permaculture is a network of well-grounded theories and techniques that, over time, result in sustainable and productive systems.

We're talking systems for living, architecture, food production, land management and community. No chemicals and no excuses. Just good, thoughtful, innovative and effective design for the needs of our species.

"I have done several permaculture courses now and I would say that Nick Ritar of Milkwood is definitely the best and most dynamic permaculture teacher I've experienced. His inclusive style of teaching and his effective design coaching, combined with his extensive knowledge and experience, has activated me towards becoming a permaculture designer. Thanks again, Milkwood." - Paul Jordan, Project Officer + budding Permaculture Designer
